Fabric engineered for versatility
We chose a polyester-spandex weave specifically for its recovery and breathability. The 92/8 blend gives you the structure of woven shorts with the flex of athletic knits.
The fabric sheds water quickly after a workout or unexpected rain, and the mesh pocket liners create airflow channels that keep you cool. Unlike heavier cotton blends, this construction stays lightweight even when damp and dries in under an hour at room temperature.

True to size with athletic cut
These run true to standard RSQ sizing with a mid-rise waist that sits just below the navel. The leg opening measures approximately 11 inches across, creating a trim silhouette without restrictive tightness.
If you typically wear our chino shorts in medium, order the same size here. The elastic waistband has two inches of give in each direction, so you can adjust tension with the internal drawcord. For reference, a 32-inch waist measures 16 inches flat across the band when relaxed.
Care and maintenance
Machine wash cold with like colors, turning the shorts inside out to protect the outer face of the fabric. Skip the fabric softener, which can coat synthetic fibers and reduce moisture-wicking performance.
Tumble dry on low heat or hang dry for best results. The polyester recovers shape quickly, so wrinkles release within minutes of wearing. Avoid ironing or dry cleaning—neither is necessary, and high heat can damage the stretch fibers.

No, these shorts do not include a built-in liner or compression brief. The design is intentionally liner-free so you can wear your preferred underwear without added bulk or restriction.
The lightweight fabric and mesh pocket linings provide breathability without the need for an integrated liner. This also makes the shorts more versatile for layering under other gear or wearing as outer shorts over compression tights.
RSQ hybrid shorts dry significantly faster than cotton and retain their shape better after repeated washing. Cotton tends to absorb moisture and stay damp, while our polyester-spandex blend wicks sweat away and air-dries in under an hour.
The synthetic fabric also resists fading and shrinkage that cotton blends often experience. However, cotton may feel softer against skin initially, whereas our technical fabric has a smoother, more athletic hand feel that some prefer for active use.
While the fabric is quick-drying and water-resistant, these are not designed as swim trunks. The construction lacks the drainage features and chlorine-resistant treatments found in dedicated swimwear.
That said, the shorts will handle light water exposure like rain or accidental splashes without issue. If you do get them wet during activity, they’ll dry faster than traditional cotton shorts but won’t perform like purpose-built swim shorts.
The inseam measures 9 inches across all sizes, hitting most wearers just above the knee. This length works well for athletic activities while still looking polished enough for casual settings.
