RSQ Thermal | Long-Sleeve Layering Essential
Our RSQ thermal is a wardrobe workhorse—built for the guy who wants comfort without the fuss. The lightweight waffle-knit fabric traps warmth while staying breathable, so you stay comfortable whether you’re layering under a flannel or wearing it solo on milder days.
We designed this thermal with a relaxed fit through the shoulders and chest, giving you room to move without extra bulk. The ribbed cuffs and hem lock in warmth, and the crew-neck cut sits flat under everything from hoodies to jackets. It’s the kind of piece you reach for week after week because it just works.
- Waffle-knit cotton-blend fabric for breathable insulation

Fabric & Construction

We use a cotton-polyester waffle knit for this thermal because it strikes the right balance: soft against the skin, durable enough for regular wear, and textured enough to trap air without clinging. The waffle pattern creates tiny insulating pockets that hold warmth close to your body while letting moisture escape—so you won’t overheat if you layer it under a sweater or wear it on its own.
Each seam is flatlock-stitched to lie flat and resist fraying after repeated washes. The ribbed cuffs and hem are cut from a tighter knit to hold their shape over time, even if you push the sleeves up during the day. We skip the extra tags and labels inside the collar to keep it comfortable when you’re wearing the thermal against bare skin.
Sizing & Fit

The RSQ thermal runs true to size with a relaxed, straight-through-the-body silhouette. If you prefer a closer fit for layering under slim-cut outerwear, consider sizing down; if you want extra room or plan to layer a tee underneath, stick with your usual size.
Sleeve length is cut to sit just past the wrist bone, so the cuffs stay in place without riding up when you reach or move. The torso hits at the waistband—long enough to tuck in but not so long that it bunches when you leave it out. We recommend measuring a favorite long-sleeve tee and comparing it to our men’s tops size chart before ordering.
Care Instructions

Machine wash cold with like colors; the waffle knit holds its texture best when you skip the high heat. Tumble dry on low or hang to air-dry—either works fine, though air-drying helps the fabric keep its shape a little longer.
The cotton-poly blend resists shrinkage if you follow the care label, but running it through a hot dryer repeatedly will cause the ribbing to tighten over time. We don’t recommend bleach or fabric softener; both can break down the elasticity in the cuffs and hem. Iron on low if needed, though most guys never bother—the waffle texture hides wrinkles naturally.

RSQ Thermal Questions Answered
The RSQ thermal works well as a base layer in winter when you’re layering it under a hoodie, flannel, or jacket. On its own, it’s better suited for fall or spring temperatures—it’s insulating but not thick enough to replace outerwear in freezing weather.
If you run cold, we recommend pairing it with a mid-layer like a fleece or vest for added warmth.
The cotton-polyester blend resists shrinkage if you tumble dry on low heat. Running it through a hot dryer repeatedly can cause the fabric to tighten slightly over time, especially in the ribbed cuffs and hem.
For best results, wash cold and tumble dry low, or hang it to air-dry if you want to maximize the lifespan of the fit.
You can absolutely wear it on its own. The waffle-knit texture gives it enough visual interest to work as a standalone shirt, and the crew-neck cut looks clean without a layer on top.
It’s heavier and more structured than a typical undershirt, so it holds up fine for casual outings, errands, or relaxed hangouts.
The main difference is the waffle-knit fabric, which adds texture and insulation that a smooth jersey tee doesn’t have. The knit creates tiny air pockets that trap warmth, making it better for layering in cooler weather.
The ribbed cuffs and hem also give it more structure than a standard long-sleeve, so it holds its shape better over time and doesn’t ride up as easily.
The RSQ thermal fits true to size with a relaxed cut through the torso and shoulders. If you prefer a slimmer fit for layering under fitted jackets, size down one. If you want extra room or plan to layer a tee underneath, stick with your usual size.
Check the measurements on our size chart and compare them to a long-sleeve shirt you already own for the most accurate fit.
The cotton-blend waffle knit is soft and comfortable against bare skin—not itchy or scratchy. We use a brushed finish on the inside to reduce any roughness, and the flatlock seams lie flat so they won’t irritate your skin.
If you have sensitive skin, the fabric should feel fine, but you can always layer a lightweight tee underneath if you prefer an extra barrier.
The fabric is designed to resist pilling, and most customers report that it holds up well through regular washing. You might see minimal pilling in high-friction areas like under the arms after extended wear, but it’s not a common issue.
Washing in cold water and tumble-drying on low heat helps keep the fabric smooth and reduces the chance of pilling over time.
