RSQ Carpenter Pants – Durable Workwear with Multi-Tool Pockets

★★★★★4.8/5· thousands of reviews

Our RSQ carpenter pants combine classic workwear utility with everyday wearability. Built from heavyweight cotton twill, these pants feature reinforced bartack stitching at every stress point, dual hammer loops, and a dedicated ruler pocket along the right leg. Multi-tool side pockets give you room for essentials without the bulk, while the straight-leg silhouette keeps the look clean whether you’re on a job site or out with friends.

We designed these with contrast top-stitching that highlights the functional pocket placements and gives the pants a lived-in, authentic workwear feel. The metal hardware—rivets, button fly, and D-ring details—are built to last through repeated wear and washing. Pair them with a hoodie or flannel for a streetwear-meets-utility vibe that works seven days a week.

Fabric & Construction Details

Fabric & Construction Details

We use a 10-ounce cotton twill that stands up to daily wear without feeling stiff or restrictive. The fabric has enough weight to hold its shape through a full day, whether you’re bending, kneeling, or moving between tasks. Every seam gets double-needle stitching, and we reinforce high-stress zones—pocket corners, fly, and belt loops—with bartack stitching to prevent blow-outs.

The button fly paired with a zip placket gives you the classic workwear look while keeping things quick and easy. Metal rivets at the pocket edges and D-ring attachment points add both durability and visual interest. We finish each pair with contrast topstitching in a shade slightly lighter than the base fabric, which highlights the utility pocket placements and gives the pants that broken-in workwear character right out of the box.

Tool Pockets & Storage Layout

Tool Pockets & Storage Layout

The ruler pocket along the right leg measures 8 inches deep and sits perfectly positioned for easy access without interfering with your stride. Dual hammer loops are stitched into the waistband on both sides, so you can carry tools or clip on accessories depending on your setup. The multi-tool side pockets are deeper than standard hand pockets—10 inches on each side—with reinforced openings that won’t sag or stretch over time.

We also include a dedicated phone pocket inside the right-hand tool pocket, so your device stays secure and separate from keys or other metal objects. The back pockets are slightly angled for a more ergonomic reach, and each one gets a reinforced corner stitch to handle the stress of sitting and standing throughout the day. Every pocket is designed with a purpose, not just for show.

Sizing & Fit Guide

Sizing & Fit Guide

How They Fit

RSQ carpenter pants run true to size with a straight-leg cut from hip to hem. The rise sits at a comfortable mid-height—not too low, not too high—and the waistband is designed to sit naturally at your hips without digging in. We offer waist sizes from 28 to 40 inches, with a standard 32-inch unhemmed inseam that you can tailor to your exact length.

If you’re between sizes, we recommend sizing up for a more relaxed fit, especially if you plan to layer underneath or want extra room in the thigh. The cotton twill has minimal stretch, so the fit you get fresh out of the package is the fit you’ll keep. For reference, a size 32 waist measures 16.5 inches across the waistband when laid flat.

Heavy-duty and comfortable all day
I’ve worn these for landscaping work and they hold up way better than expected. Pockets are deep enough for my phone and tools, and the fabric doesn’t tear at the seams like cheaper pairs I’ve tried. After three months of daily wear they still look solid.

Perfect blend of style and function
I wasn’t sure if carpenter pants would work for casual fits, but these are spot-on. The fit is clean, not baggy, and the hardware details give them character. I wear them with hoodies and chunky sneakers constantly.

Great pockets, shrunk a bit after wash
Love the tool pockets and the overall build quality. Only downside is they shrank about an inch in length after the first wash, even on low heat. Size up if you’re on the fence.

Best work pants for the price
I’ve bought three pairs now. The twill is thick but not stiff, and the hammer loops actually stay put when I hang tools on them. For fifty bucks these are unbeatable.

Solid everyday pant
I’m not a tradesperson but I wanted something durable for weekend projects and casual wear. These fit the bill perfectly. The ruler pocket is surprisingly useful, and I like the contrast stitching detail.

Runs true to size, very sturdy
Ordered my usual 32 waist and they fit exactly as expected. Fabric feels substantial without being too heavy. Only wish they offered a few more color options.

Common Questions About RSQ Carpenter Pants

They feature a straight-leg cut from hip to hem, which gives a classic workwear silhouette without the extreme taper you’d find in joggers or slim-fit styles. The leg opening measures approximately 16 inches for a size 32 waist, so they sit comfortably over boots or sneakers without bunching.

Carpenter pants include a ruler pocket on the right leg and dual hammer loops at the waist, designed originally for tradespeople carrying tools. Cargo pants swap the ruler pocket for large flap pockets on the thighs and typically add adjustable waist tabs. Both use the same heavyweight cotton twill and reinforced stitching.

The 100% cotton twill has no stretch, so the fit is rigid and holds its shape all day. This gives them durability and a structured look, but if you prefer flexibility in the fabric, consider ordering one size up for extra room in the thigh and seat.

Yes, the 32-inch inseam is designed to be hemmed to your preferred length. Use a sewing machine with a denim needle and double-needle stitch to match the original hem construction. Most tailors can also hem them for around ten dollars if you’d rather have it done professionally.

Wash inside-out in cold water and tumble dry on low heat or hang-dry to preserve color depth. Avoid chlorine bleach and high-heat drying, which can fade the dye and weaken the cotton fibers. After several washes, the pants will develop a naturally worn-in look without losing structural integrity.

The hammer loops are bartack-stitched directly into the waistband and can handle moderate weight—hammers, multi-tools, or carabiners—without tearing. For heavier tools or multiple items, we recommend distributing weight across both loops rather than loading one side heavily.

Currently, RSQ carpenter pants are offered in men’s sizing only, with waist sizes from 28 to 40 inches. We’re exploring unisex and women’s-specific fits for future releases based on customer feedback, so stay tuned for updates in our product lineup.
